Finding Sanctuary at the Beach

A lot of the story is set here in San Diego so this week I’ve been digging through some details about Mission Beach and its iconic Belmont Park as well as the Giant Dipper, a historical wooden roller coaster that was built in 1925. This picture is from 1966. And here is a pretty informative link from NBC San Diego about the roller coaster’s 89th birthday.

Shelby, the main character leaves the DC area and is hiding in San Diego after a family tragedy. Here, is where she’ll spend most of her time in San Diego. She finds peace and sanctuary at the edge of the Pacific. She also starts to learn more about the person she wants to become.
